Christmas has jumped on top of me and surprised me like *insert good surprising similie here*. One minute I was working, the next I was at a family do. It still doesn't feel like Christmas, just a day where I woke up far too early and got presents - very good ones at that! Last night was the family do for Dad's side of the family. It's the one where it's ok to drink a lot and be slightly schnookered. The first thing I wanted to do after a long week of working was to drink beer. So I did. Not the best idea to have a Belgian Christmas beer with 8.1% alcohol content when the last time you ate was 1.45pm. The beer was heavy, dinner was light, I felt happy.
Granma did her usual distribution of Christmas money. She walked around the room saying, 'Here you are, Dave, here you are Chad, etc, etc.' She got to me and said, 'There you go, whoever you are.'
She's only known me for my entire twenty year existence, I have the most random name of the lot, and she forgets it. She's only met Adam and Avril once and she remembered their names. But she has to forget the name of the grand daughter who visits often, watches MASH with them and sits through long tales of life back in Mt Gambier.
So Merry Christmas, whoever you are!
