20 songs from the depths of winamp

I kinda stole this one from meish.org but I don't have one of those new-fangled macinsquash software and/or hardware thingamabobbies. So here are the last twenty songs spat out at random by my Winamp with added explanation or disclaimers:

1. Don't Stop - Darren Hanlon
From Triple J's awesome Like A Version CD. Mr Hanlon sounds cool doing a Fleetwood Mac cover with a banjo/mandolin. Go him.
2. I Got You - Split Enz
I was talking about this song last Friday. Anyone remember the videoclip? How freaky does Tim Finn look in it. Well, not so much freaky as just vacant. Anyway, the song rocks! It's so true, "I don't know why sometimes I get frightened"
3. Sex Acordeon et Alcool - Java
Classic French Hip-Hop from Java's Hawai album. I love Java, they put accordion in their hip-hop. How cool is that? French hip-hop rocks because they're actually inventive, they push the borders of the genre, has to be listened to be believed.
4. Rhys Muldoon's Storytime Challenge #7
This harks back to the days of Triple J breakfast with Adam and Wil. They used to get former Play School presenter, to make up a children's story in an hour using topics of the day/week. This storytime challenge looks at Ryan Refitter who is affected by the Free Trade Agreement. Very funny.
5. Counting the Beat - The Swingers
This one comes from my set of 5 80's cds. Incredibly cheesy, used for a Kmart ad campaign a few years back, but it's got an addictive tune and I believe addictive tunes can be a redeeming factor.
6. After All These Years – Silverchair
One of Silverchair’s more ballad-y songs from their Diorama album. I love the fact that it’s so heavily piano and strings based. A sweet little song.
7. Turn Up Your Stereo – Eskimo Joe
Old school Eskimo Joe, very, very fun stuff that gets stuck in your head.
8. The Lights Are Back On – The Whitlams
From their last album Torch the Moon. Nothing impressive. Moving right along...
9. Fourth Floor - The Waifs
Random Waifs track that I nicked from Claire. Yeah, bleh. Lots of harmonica and guitar. You know the deal.
10. Hyperballad - Bjork
You've already heard me wax lyrical about this song on many a previous occasion. Adam doesn't get the hype. Ah well, he's not a girl.
11. Cows With Guns - Dana Lyons
Come on, who doesn't have Cows With Guns?
12. These Boots Were Made For Walking - Little Birdy
Another song from the Like a Version compilation. Not as good as Nancy Sinatra's original. Katy Steele's voice annoys me after a while.
13. Thankyou (for loving me at my worst) - The Whitlams
"I shouldn't have driven, you shouldn't have driven. But we got there, had a good time so we left the car..." Best. Song. Ever. Loved this song for a very, very long time. "Can we be crazy for a few more years?"
14. Fall Down - Jebediah
It has bagpipes.
15. Heaven Is a Place On Earth - Belinda Carlisle
More from the 80's box set. Moving right along...
16. Dream Brother - Jeff Buckley
Damn, I love Jeff Buckley's music! Best played cranked at full volume to get the full effect of his haunting vocals.
17. Mojo Pin - Jeff Buckley
Two Jeff songs in a row (yes, we are on a first name basis)?! Brilliant! This song's even better than the other one! The lyrics for this song get me everytime...
18. (Baby I've Got You) On My Mind - Powderfinger
Yeah, tis a cool, rocky song. I likes it.
19. Quicksand - End of Fashion
Yet another song from Like a Version. Nice to know End of Fashion can do something not rocky/poppy and pull it off incredibly well.
20. The Modern Things - Bjork
Another Bjork song. I like it, but still if it's not your cup of tea, it's not your cup of tea. According to Bjork, "The modern things have always existed, they've just been waiting to multiply and take over."

Gahhhh!!! You and your Aussie music, make me homesick every time.

I love Jebediah's Leaving Home (which the boys used to sing as Bang Bang Hole) but that bagpipe one is pretty good too. But no No Aphrodisiac? Are you sure you're a real Aussie?
