journalism - a dangerous profession?

In Australia, you may get a bit of hate mail for your journalism, perhaps a stalker if you're lucky.

In Lebanon?
A bomb blast, a burnt body and one less leg, thank you very much.

I don't care what people think about the media being biased, sensationalist, mundane, etc. Journalists are brave, brave people. Remember, they're the ones who tell you what's going on in your world whether you like it or not. The news might not be pretty, or heartwarming or positive, but neither is the world. The people are willing to pay the price to tell you about this. A burnt body and an amputated leg is a high price to pay so you can sit in your living room at night and say, 'Oh well, there's fighting in Left Bank, what's for tea tonight, honey?'.

Thanks to Sabbah's Blog for the heads up.
