Details are below:
Come see a play!
Presented by Bedlam Theatre company, performing at NEXUS Theatre, Murdoch University!
THE INSPECTOR GENERAL
Nikolai Gogol's 19th century comedy of corruption, Russian bureaucracy, and mistaken identity is coming to stage.
Running from Thursday 31st August to Saturday 2nd September, starting at 7:30pm. Tickets are $8 for the public, $5 for Bedlam members.
We also have matinees on the Thursday and Friday, starting at 12noon. Entry is a gold coin donation.
STORY:
The corrupt officials of a regional town are terrified to hear that an Inspector General is travelling around incognito to inspect the government agencies.
They mistake a flamboyant and spendthrift office clerk for the Inspector, and desperately go about impressing and bribing him, so their misdeeds are not spoken of in St Petersburg.
The play was the inspiration for the 'Hotel Inspector' of the Fawlty Towers series.
