So I finished work yesterday. Mum and Dad were waiting for me outside.
"She's in hospital. She went there earlier this afternoon."
Of all the times to be told that, after work should never be one of them.
We went home, got her bag organised and went to the hospital.
Maternity wards are weird. They're a bit more serene than I'd first thought. Sure, you hear the odd newborn crying but apart from that. It's just boredom. Total and utter boredom.
She was staying overnight, seeing if they needed to induce her.
This morning, they returned not with a daughter, but with a referral to specialist and a warning, "She going to be a big baby.
