I had to watch the two hour version of Leni Riefenstahl's Triumph of the Will just then for my Documentary unit.
Here's a few things I learnt from Triumph of the Will:
1. Back in the 1930's, Germany's main industries were flag making and drum making.
2. The National Socialist Party liked the idea of a Scout Jamboree so much that they stole it and did a much better job of it.
3. When I have children and they act up, I will tie them to a chair and make them watch the full three hour version of Triumph of the Will. Then I will have perfect, obedient children. Or alternatively, children who have been indoctrinated by the Nazis.
4. Germans are good at marching. Marching in lines, marching with flags, marching and playing music, marching around a corner, marching precisely to the beat...
5. Women and children only existed for a very short time in Nazi Germany.
6. Hitler was a drama queen.
7. In Nazi Germany, men spent more time marching than building the Autobahn.
8. Hitler probably had a fake moustache - it looks like it's growing out of his nose.

I kinda like the marching. It's less embarrasing than that weird kicking thing you're s'posed to do in another spot....
so lemme get this straight.
I say 'Nazi Germany', you say 'gym instructor'?
