the run

When people think of Jess, you would never associate 'going for a run' with that.
Tonight somebody forced me to associate 'Jess' with 'going for a run'.
Needless to say, it was not pretty.
One jog halfway around Winthrop Park led to a killer stitch which justified me walking the rest of that lap and halfway around the next lap.
Then Adam said, 'Ok, I want you to run with me back to the bench or at least to the playground.'
The was no reply from me. I didn't want to do this.
'You ready? One... Two... Three!'
My body involuntarily moved on three. I started to jog. I made it to the playground feeling pretty good about it all. 'Good, Honey! Now keep running to the bench'
I kept running. I felt ill. My heart felt like it was going to explode. I wanted to throw my water bottle at the bench to curse it for being so damn far away. But it was so dark that I couldn't see where the bench was anyway.

But I made it. 'Good girl. I'm so proud of you. Good girl.'
Great, so I run around an oval and Adam starts talking to me ask though I'm his pet dog.

Having said all that, feeling totally crap at the time as well as dreading the next time I have to run, I actually have a good feeling about this. This whole running caper might just be a good thing.

Bad Jess. No donut.

I recommend a running plan. Trying to do it like you describe will just open you up for injury or worse, giving up.

Up until bub's impending arrival began to interfere I was running three km three times per week using the above plan. It's not much but you know how unfit I am. There are lots of plans available on the net. Find one that suits you and use that.

If you're interested the City to Surf is on 27th August. 12km run. That's my goal. Feel free to join me.

This is random, I know. But omfg, you're a Murdoch student too, aren't you? (was running a search on Technorati for other Perth-based blogs) Hey, I attend documentary lectures too!

Skribe - don't mention City to Surf. Just don't. You'll only encourage Kat.

*ahem* I never had the evil plan to make you run. The plan was put in place a long time ago, I just merely subscribed to the plan.
