I was driving down the freeway today. Situation normal. I tend to drive down the freeway a lot, you might even say that I like it. I saw a middle aged guy wearing a black baseball cap in a convertible Mazda MX5. "This is Perth, people can afford those kinds of extravagancies," I thought.
There was a carbon copy of him driving the exact same car ahead of him. Right down to the baseball cap.
And again. And again. Except this time the guy wasn't wearing a baseball cap. The hair surrounding his growing bald patch was dancing in time with the wind coming off Melville Water and the forward motion of his baby, his darling, his dream MX5. I finally understood the necessity of the baseball cap as an accessory to these kinds of cars.
Still I thought nothing of the unusually high frequency of MX5s gracing the Kwinana Freeway. That was until I hit the stretch of freeway near the Canning Highway exit. Four MX5s in a row. I was beginning to fear insanity, nay, hallucination. How could there possibly be so many of the same car, with the same people in such a small area.
So a little freaked out, I sped past them, still pondering that phenomenon. Who'd have thought there'd be a club for MX5 owners?

Ooooh! I saw a sight like that in Melbourne once. And when I took a closer look it was only Molly Meldrum wasn't it! Score for a Celeb Sighting!
