more big word adventures

It's crazy, today I started another term's worth of English tutoring. In addition to my year 12 girl who is going brilliantly - at least we'll definitely find out tomorrow arvo - I've also started tutoring two boys. One's in year 8 and the other's in year 10. English is an odd subject in that what you do in year 8 has absolutely nothing to do with what you end up doing in year 12. I was afraid that I'd suck at tutoring year 8 and 10 boys because I stuffed around in lower school English, but it seems to be ok at the moment. I'm pretty much just helping the year 8 with his homework and fixing up his grammar, I'm teaching essay writing to the year 10 so that he won't screw it up in the next two years and I'm teaching my year 12 girl how to get an opinion and express it. Oh and for the record, I hate the new system that they're bringing in next year for year 11 and 12 - I don't get it - My year 10 tried to explain it and I just thought it sounded way too confusing as well as an immense waste of time.
